Insurance:
Most car insurance companies have a car rental rider available for a couple of dollars a year. Contact your insurance company to see if they offer this. The rider may eliminate the need for the extra insurances the car rental company offers. This can mean a considerable savings for the overall price of the car rental. Using your Gold or Platinum credit card may also offer additional insurance coverage for car rentals. Call your credit card customer service to confirm the additional coverage.
Re-Fueling:
A service the car rental companies offer is a re-fuel of your vehicle when you return the car if the gas gauge is not on full. Read the fine print about what they are charging per gallon before signing. This amount is usually very high!
The gas prices are generally higher within a 10 mile radius of the airport.
Try to re-fuel a little further out and away from the freeway to save on that last tank.
