Carla... brings experience and imagination to the team

Upon graduating from high school, Carla's parents gave her the choice of a new electric typewriter (they were still the size of a small foreign car then), a set of luggage or a trip to Hawaii. Maybe Carla knew that personal computers were only 20 years off or that luggage shouldn't weigh 15 lbs before you pack, but she took the trip. So it began...a week in Honolulu not a bad place to start.

Over the years Carla has had the opportunity to co-chair a dinner benefit for Yamhill County Volunteers, plan various charity events and work on behalf of the Oregon Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors National Conference in Portland. Making travel arrangements and negotiating contracts were part of her work experience, so when she was looking for a career change- becoming a travel agent seemed like a logical step. Carla graduated from Emmett Travel School in Tigard, Oregon.

Carla opened Renaissance Travel in 2001.

Education is essential to being a good travel agent and Carla takes part in seminars and specialist programs to stay abreast of what is new in the industry. The best education is experience so she researches her itineraries prior to escorting groups and takes "familiarization" trips whenever possible. Her goal is to provide a better experience than her clients anticipate. Sharing her travel experiences with others is a real joy.

Born in a valley below Mount Hood, Carla is proud of her Oregon roots and loves to show off her unique and beautiful state.

Upcoming groups this year include the AQS National Quilting Show in Nashville, Mediterranean cruise, tour of Italy and a Trans Atlantic cruise. "So many places so little time....."

Carla is an active participant in tourism activism world wide and is a past board member for Caribbean Tourism Organization.
